This song is about change and how we perceive it. We naturally seek comfort, resisting change that takes one out of it, even if it's for good. We never realise there are different worlds yet to be uncovered if approached with a nascent mind.
The first section is where the mind thinks like the way it's been all this time and eventually when new connections begin to form, the mind gets lost in an undefined space free from thoughts. Eventually, a stream of thoughts resume having a sense of direction, understanding, and fullness. This is marked by the FM synthesised arpeggiated lines, the big lush lead part along with the bass to tightly envelope everything together.
The drums are a result of playing around with triggering modes on a sampler. Having one shot and longer phrases of hi hats on the same pad surprisingly added multiple layers of intricacy to my finger drumming. Combining it with dynamically changing rhythm ideas, I knit the drums layer by layer, section by section such that there is always a new element to focus on. I synthesised these drum sounds using soft synths, foley sounds, white noise and a whole lot of pre-mixing.
